The Gift of Craniosacral Therapy
“The Secret something that is hard by all effective healing methods is the process of leading the client to an honest and truthful self-discovery. This self-discovery is required for the initiation and continuation of self-healing; for it is only through self-healing – in contrast to curing – that clients can experience both permanent recovery and spiritual growth…the closer our perception of self-approaches, the deeper our capacity for self-healing becomes. When there is a very close correspondence between self-image and truth, our healing powers may be virtually unlimited.”
Dr John E Upledger
Take a moment and imagine what it would feel like to be pain-free; physical pain, emotional pain, mental pain. Our body is a remarkable machine but ever so vulnerable to all external stress and trauma in life. We hold trauma deep inside. We suppress it until one moment in time it can no longer stay suppressed.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a touch-based hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the psychological body system called the craniosacral system. If you haven’t heard of the craniosacral system, you’re not alone, not many people have.  It is comprised of the cerebrospinal fluid, the dura sheath lining, and the dura tube that houses the spinal cord, bones, nerves, and connective tissue. It is through trapped physical injury, emotional trauma and mental stress that restrictions begin to form within the body causing the craniosacral system to function below its optimum directly affecting the central nervous system which in turn affects the self-healing of our body. My training allows me to communicate with the body via my hands feeling for the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid within the spine, identify where the body is feeling restrictions and then allow the body to self-correct. Craniosacral therapy is an amazing way to assist and complement the body’s natural healing process. When restrictions are released we improve the function of the nervous system and our whole body.
A compliment to craniosacral therapy is Somato Emotional Release Therapy (SER). Somato release ties beautifully into craniosacral therapy when the body needs to release an emotional cyst or trapped emotional energy. This trapped emotional energy can be directly related to a physical injury or related to a traumatic event that the subconscious is holding on to. Â It is the therapeutic process that uses and expands the paradigm of Craniosacral Therapy, to help rid the mind and body of residual effects of trauma.
Oh, so many issues can be facilitated, supported and corrected with craniosacral therapy. Â Some of the issues are chronic headaches including migraines, pain both acute and chronic, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, depression, ADD, ADHD, Autistic spectrum disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, post-surgery recovery, sports injury recovery, concussion and post-concussion rehabilitation, infertility, pregnancy support, birthing support, post-natal recovery for infants and new mothers, tongue and lip tie, breastfeeding issues, positional plagiocephaly (misshapen, flat or asymmetrical (uneven) head shape), postnatal depression and the baby blues, MVA (motor vehicle accident) rehabilitation and overall health maintenance.
Craniosacral Therapy is suited for everyone and anyone. This includes prenatal and postnatal, newborns, toddlers, pre teens, the golden years, it is truly the most comforting relaxing and safe yet profound method to your best body mind and spirit.
